GIS with R
GIS with R is an experimental course in geographic information systems and their applications. Instead of using ESRI, in this class R programming is used to extract, query, compile data to conduct analysis and create maps.
This map is a cartogram of census tracts in Multnomah County, OR displaying the median household income by color and number of people with a bachelors or higher by size of the census tract.
In this exercise, I examined the traffic crimes within the neighborhoods in the City of Portland, OR. I used a kernel density map to help visualize where the traffic crime hot spots are.
