GIS III (Internship)

GIS III is an Advanced course in geographic information systems and their applications. Each student will be responsible for designing and carrying out a GIS project using real world data.

For this class I worked as an Intern at EWU's Institute of Public Policy and Economic Analysis. The project I worked on was contracted by Cascade Natural Gas to conduct analysis on their low-income subsidized program and to help locate households that qualify for the program but are not enrolled. The data used in this project was collected from the U.S. Census Bureau, Washington State Department of Transportation and from Cascade Natural Gas.

This map shows all of the services districts in Washington State.

In this map, median household income is displayed through the different colors by census tract within a service district.

In this map, share of occupied units using utility gas is displayed through the different colors by census tract within a service district.

In this map, mean heating burden for subsidized households is displayed through the different colors by census tract within a service district.
